I tend to at times take "Spur of the moment" road trips.I just grab my purse, and get in my vehicle and take off down the highway. Some would say I am crazy what with the price of Gasoline and all,but I enjoy the time to myself. So please read on......
Routed via I-675 to I-75,to exit 181 in Ky.then returning via I-75,I-275,I-471,I-71,SR73,SR380,and US68...

I started out shortly after 11 PM.I got on to I-675 from I-70 and started driving southbound.I had the Ham Radio on,the scanner on,and the CB running.I started chatting with some friends on the 147.150 repeater out of Cincinnati as I drove. For the most part the drive down I-675 was uneventful.I got on I-75 and things started out well, too. When I got down near Monroe and Exit 29,I came upon my first State Trooper in the median just north of the exit. They have a job to do and I am glad they are there.Kinda keeps the "nutcases" who are wanting to do 100 in a 65mph zone under control.I got by him and continued on my way still chatting with my friends on the ham rig and the occasional trucker on the CB.I came upon a cop breezing by me on southbound I-75 near exit 15 in Sharonville.Turned out to be a Lockland cop who got off at exit 12(Thanks John for the info).I got down near exit 6 and found a cop with a stopped vehicle.Maybe he was speeding or something.Oh well,on across the Brent Spence into Kentucky.I love the commonwealth of Kentucky.I get a great feeling everytime I get across the bridge. I was doing great, but I decided against going too far into Ky as I have before.I exited at exit 181 and went to the truckstop.I got something to drink and also found an antenna mount for my CB antenna that I needed.I wanted to replace the mount I had with a better one.Funny thing though.TA(Travelcenters of america) had the mount I wanted for $13.97.They had another that was the same, but on a mirror mount for $9.97 on sale.Ok...I guess I get the sale item.I got back in the pickup and got back northbound on I-75.I then decided to go I-275 to I-471.That is where I maybe should have stayed on I-75/71.When I got over on I-275 near the Ky 9/AA hwy. exit, there was a crash of a mini-van that had really rolled it.The Police and fire units were there already,so I didn't need to call it in.There was a car in the left lane next to me that needed over as traffic was down to one lane.I slowed and let him in in front of me.It was then that the wildness began. One of the officers on scene was motioning traffic to go ahead to go around the scene. The Car in front of me went forward. There was a police cruiser in the lane that told us by its position that we needed to go to the right on the shoulder to get around it.He started to the left and was going to proceed right into the middle of the scene! The officer started yelling and I stopped dead in the road.I asked him if I was doing anything wrong or if he needed me to stop.He said it wasn't me,but the other driver. The other driver finally got the hint and went right.I felt sorry for the minivan driver.I hope he wasn't seriously hurt..I got over to I-471 and proceeded north.I forgot about the construction at I-471 and Ft. Washington Way in Cincy. It went down to two lanes.I got onto I-71 North and was off and running again.Things were going ok until I got to exit 10 and saw the Silverton cop with a stopped driver.I had been chatting all this time with my friends on the ham rig and they were keeping me company. After that officer,I continued up I-71 without incident except for the vehicle that blew up the road near the Kings' Island exit.I don't know who you were, but 65 is plenty fast enough at 4 AM.I don't need to be calling in a crash and assisting you because you decided to do 80+mph.I made it to SR 73 and decided to get off there and take SR 380 to Xenia rather than go another 5 miles to US 68.I mean they both come together in Xenia anyway,so why not?It was then I lost the friends on the Ham repeater(At least we know the 147.150 rpt. will reach to the Caesar's creek exit off I-71).I got into Xenia and went to Yellow Springs.Yellow Springs,Ohio is a very nice little village. If you have never been there, take a short trip on US 68 betwen Xenia and Springfield,Ohio sometime. There are some great restaurants, nice little shops, and also there is Antioch College. It is unlike any other town you have seen.I then went out Fairfield/Yellow Springs road hoping to go up Enon Rd. towards home.Naturally,I goofed and ended up on Fowler Road.No biggie, just drive to Dayton Rd. and the the rest of the way home. For my night's drive,I had fun.And to John and all the rest of the "Slackers",I enjoyed the company.I got back in at a little after 5AM and thanks be to God for getting there safely.--Kaci
